In einer Kollaboration mit Dave Ma, Musikvideo-Regisseur und Fotograf, kreierte das für seinen Blended Scotch Whisky populäre Haus Ballantine’s die Artist Series 2016. Drei limitierte Sleeves und Geschenkhüllen gestaltete Dave Ma für den Ballantine’s Finest sowie für den Ballantine’s 12 Jahre. Inspiration lieferte dem Künstler der Blick auf Schottland aus dem Flugzeug heraus. Entsprechend prägt sein Design die schottische Landschaft aus der Vogelperspektive, die er in Rot- und Blautönen umsetzte – im Fall des Sleeves der Ballantine’s-Finest-Flasche auch mit einer tastbaren Haptik.
Dave Ma über die Kollaboration: „I was ultimately drawn to working with Ballantine’s for the excitement of doing something completely different, that would still represent my artistic style. It was awe-inspiring to see that part of Scotland, and to be able to shoot a really unique perspective of that landscape. My focus was to capture the natural beauty of the terrain, but I wanted to move the images away from the all-too-familiar green landscapes of the Scottish Highlands and give each gift pack its own distinctive look, which reflected the personalities of each of the blends.“
