Ein sechsjähriger Yellowstone Bourbon soll in den 1960er-Jahre zur Nummer eins im US-Bundesstaat Kentucky aufgestiegen sein. Mit dem neuen Yellowstone Small Batch 107, ebenfalls sechs Jahre gereift, verkündet die Limestone Branch Distillery das Revival.
Festes Alter und hohe Prozente
Der von Stephen Beam, Master Distiller der Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon in Kentucky, entwickelte Yellowstone Small Batch 107 wird von den Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown in Kentucky auf einer Column Still aus einer Mashbill aus 75 Prozent Mais, 13 Prozent Roggen und zwölf Prozent Gerstenmalz gewonnen. Anschließend darf der Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey sechs Jahre in neuen, ausgebrannten Fässern aus amerikanischer Weißeiche reifen. Das Abfüllen nimmt die Limestone Branch Distillery mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 53,5 Prozent, ohne Kältefiltration und ohne Farbstoff vor.
„Yellowstone was the top selling whiskey in Kentucky in the 1960s, and at the time, it was bottled at six years old“, sagt Master Distiller Stephen Beam. „I wanted to bring back that tradition and offer a product with a clear age statement, and the perfect entry level proof point at 107. This is a long time coming. We’ve had great success with special finishes but never had an age-stated product before Small Batch.“
„The higher proof brings out more flavors, and by non-chill filtering Small Batch we created a much more full-bodied product than a lower-proof chill filtered bourbon“, erzählt Stephen Beam. „It’s the perfect addition to our family of offerings. Small Batch delivers on our heritage and tradition, bringing back memories of Yellowstone’s history, while also representing a natural progression in elevating the portfolio.“
Tasting-Notes
Den Tasting-Notes zufolge zeigen sich in der Nase Karamell und Vanille, untermalt von Anklängen dunkler Schokolade und Eiche. Am Gaumen sollen sich Aromen von Karamell, Honig und Eiche entfalten, ergänzt durch eine fruchtige Note reifer Kirschen.
Neu in Deutschland
Ab sofort wird der Yellowstone Small Batch 107 im deutschen Fachhandel angeboten. Die unverbindliche Preisempfehlung wird mit 55 Euro für die 0,7-l-Flasche angegeben.
